Hey St. Johns. For 15 years I had a computer repair shop in our downtown (Grate Computers ) and now I am taking a break from it all. However, it would be really helpful...

Hi Russell Grate, we may have your answer. We have a guy in our Thrift Store that wants to establish himself here in St Johns doing computer repair. He has 30 years experience. His name is Randall Cole. His PH: 503-933-4418. Fell free to call him. Thanks, Sonja

Heather McAfee, I don't do it professionally, but I can possibly help diagnose the issue if David Green hasn't had time to get back to you. He's a good friend of mine, so even if I can't fix the issue, I can possibly gather enough information for him so he could provide a solution. Let me know if you'd like to set up a time. I'm a web developer by trade, so I spend plenty of time around computers and have fixed my share of issues.

David Green does computer repair/help desk type of work. Very good at what he does, I've known him for 5 years and can vouch for his skill and reliability.
Michael M. replied:
Ok...now I am feeling a bit guilty! ....but I am a bit distressed at this time as I am medicated, have not eaten for 4 days and am waiting patientely to pass a kidney stone. Sorry I know TMI.... But I want to leave this in a good way. Lee, you and I seem to be having a problem communicating on this and written communication without personal interaction can leave too much room for missed perception. I want to extend the olive branch and let you know that I am sorry for this and if you ever need some PC help that I would be more than happy to assist you. In addition we should be GRATEfully honoring our dear friend Russell Grate as he takes a break from serving our community. Thanks Russell

Portland: Any recommendations on computer repair? Specifically, I need someone to look at my monitor and determine if it can be saved or if it's dead. And yes, I have...
Joseph J. replied:
Monitors generally are considered "throw away items" as the repair cost is usually close to the cost of replacing it with a brand spanking new monitor. Save yourself the time and trouble and just get a new one and for the love of God don't get raped by Geek Squad or Best Buy! Check TigerDirect.com or NewEgg.com as they have pretty good deals on monitors.
