Hello neighbors! I was wondering if anyone knew of any tax credits or grants available for making repairs/painting our historic house here in Park view? Also do you have...
Traci L. replied:
Yes, my husband and I are doing the state tax credits through the Va Dept of Historic Resources. There are very specific guidelines that you must follow, and as long as you do so, you get 25% of what you spend on the project in state tax credits. The city also has a real renovation incentive program in which they will lower your real estate assessment (and therefore your taxes) for a period of 10 years if your renovations raise the value of your home by a certain percentage, I don't remember the exact number. We participate in that one too. Someone told me just today that there are grants and low cost loans available for smaller projects through PRHA . Robert Ellis is the "neighborhood" painter and he is very good. I'm happy to share more privately if you like.

Vincent H Posey painted my house here in WPV and did a great job for a very fair price.
Bob P. replied:
I whole heartedly recommend Robert Ellis who lives right in your neighborhood on Linden Ave. and has been painting houses in Parkview and Olde Town for 30+ years. I will put you in touch on request.
Felicia C. replied:
Robert Ellis for painting. He lives just 2 doors down from you, too.

I used Ron Campbell of Campbell's painting from Chesapeake. Very reasonable and does great exterior work!

Vincent H Posey painted our Victorian in West Park View last summer and we were/are very happy with his work! We tried 4 contractors who couldn't make time for us, he came out bid the job right on the mark and got it done quickly!
