Before Massinga/Morrungulo for overnighting there is very convenient accommodation right on the EN1 at Inharrime (Jolly Roger), Lindela (Quinta St Antonio) or Maxixe (Farmas's Hotel). Dirk F. replied:
Marcia Brunner - the deep sand near Pomene is too deep for a Beetle - you will grade the road, even if towed. If you go to https://www.facebook.com/296358547172923 Morrungulo Beach Lodge the road is doable, just 100 m before the turn to Pomene, you will find the turn to Morrungulo. Remember my pictures with the Beatle with DriveMoz stickers, at a scenic place or on the "Beach Road" Enjoy. Hi John, I assume you mean Mphingwe Lodge near Caia? I am planning a similar trip for later this year so have also been looking for options. This map (from DriveMoz files) has overnight accommodation recommended by members There is Phama Lodge in Mocuba https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?ll=-17.42214846652589%2C37.912881524473164&z=6&mid=17Zq_TeF05AouxefjV8B_bWNx9Nc
Sara M. replied:
Not on the map.... in Mocuba is Venus Guest House - Tel +258 24810049. But Mokuba may be too close to Caia. Also look at Ruby Backpackers in Nampula. There is a Hotel Kapulana -in Alto Molocue but it has negative reviews. (The Kapulana at Vila Gorongosa & Moamba, on the other hand, are excellent overnight spots).

Not sure re Marromeu as I have not been there. Call Ant White on +258 82 3027804 or his wife Pat on +258823087043. They have a lovely place 30 Km South of Caia nd they will be able to advise you re Marromeu. Ant unfortunately does not have camping facilities but his accommodation and food etc is excellent for overnighting and lovely birdwatching and they are very reasonably priced. Xalala Beach has no camping that I know about and the beach must be the "dirtiest" in Moz. Sand is black. Call me lets chat.
