Dihas Skin Clinic. I usually just get basic facials from them though, but at a super reasonable price. They have a lot of machines rin and sulit rin naman prices nung mga laser, revlite, etc nila. I think medyo normal for them to recommend their products, pero may patong talaga. At least you know na effective. But di ka naman required to buy from them directly. Dra. isn't around all the time though. Best to call earlier if you want to consult.

I personally don’t use products from dermas. I think their products are too aggressive for me and I think there’s also a reason for that. I also agree to the fact that they just recommend their own products not explaining what ingredients you should add to your regimen to address issues.

I'm currently seeing a derma at a public hospital. PDS-certified docs, no consultation fees, and they always reiterate that buying their products is optional. :) Products are usually priced P100-300. Only downside is that you may have to wait in line for a while if it's a busy day.

Tbh, yeah. Going to a top dermatologist, and I love her, but I really expected her to introduce me to retinoids and actives and all that to get rid of some cheek texture, but nope, just tossed me some Italian skincare she had in her clinic to supplement my lasers. Nothing beats research and being an educated consumer/patient (w/o being a know-it-all ass).

Yes. Ganyan din experience ng friend ko dati. If feeling mo genetic or hormonal, try going to an endocrinologist na lang or something.

Same! Her products would work for some time pero pag nawala yung effectiveness, diretso agad sa bagong product. Tapos repeat cycle. Although magaganda yung products nya, medyo pricey, at nawawala na yung effect nung sabon na binibili ko sa kanya (I have skin asthma). I kind of want to go back sa clinic nya kaso baka magrecommend lang ulit sya ng new product. She's nice, and I like her because she's good at explaining things to me, pero gusto ko ng recommendations na matutulungan ako ng long term. Hindi yung "use this soap! use this ointment! use this lotion! hindi na gumagana? use this OTHER lotion that I have!" I'm thinking of seeing a new one.

Secondhand story lang pero I have a good friend who visited a well known derma’s house a few years back and nakita nya nirerepackage lang daw ng house helpers yung drugstore brand na ointment in a tube into tubs with her name on it

yup, they usually prescribe their own products, kasi sila ata nagttailor nung mga percentage ng ingredients? depends on the doctor, though. one time naubusan si SO nung ointment na binili nya from derma, so bumili nalang siya over the counter. the next day, SO's skin got so irritated, napa-halfday leave siya para makauwi nalang. then nung bumalik sa derma, sabi nung doc iba daw kasi yung percentage nung binebenta nya, compared sa nasa pharmacies. good thing hindi naman mapilit yung doctor na sa kanya lang bumili ng products. pero natakot na si SO sa mga alternatives. hehe.

Yes. Your suspicion is correct. Dermas are the most variable of docs. Best doc I have ever had was a derma (saw him a lot because of accutane). But I've had many bad ones too. One even mixed up his own tonics and solutions for skincare that he would sell. Talk about conflict of interest..

Fortunately, I was lucky enough to find an excellent dermatologist. Never once felt that I was forced to purchased a product. When payments were made at the counter, I can choose if I wanted to purchase all the recommended products or just pick out a few. In fact, I'd say she's very laid-back. She evaluated my acne-prone skin, pointed out the problems and recommended the treatment. I was also asked if I had any period issues, and other questions to figure if I had hormonal acne. She mentioned that if the first treatment doesn't work out, I may possibily to go on birth control pills to see if it will stop my acne. Good thing, all went well with just the first treatment. I appreciated that she had planned out the future treatments I may need to do in case, the first treatment doesn't work out. It shows she was much interested in curing my acne rather than just recommeding some of the newest treatments. My skin: I had very bad acne and marks, which was almost healed in less then a month. In my 2 visits, facials with extractions, and chemical peels were done. I was prescribed with mix of medications, derma's brand products including a skin supplement and ZO Medical products. I left the clinic horrified that my acne and marks was looking like 'wounds', but I trusted my dermatologist as her clinic was literally packed with long-term clients -and many had amazing skin. There's never an empty day at her clinic. The cost of my first visit was about 20K + including products and medication,but I opted out from a few products, due to the lack of budget. Second visit was around 12K+, but the treatments are usally under the 5K range. It's the products and medications that topped the bills up. Topical anesthesia is also available for those who can't stand facial extractions. Everything worked really fast, but I couldn't leave the house. The would-like scabs lasted about a week or two before it fell off and left a clear complexion. By the 2nd visit, I was told I could start dermarolling treatments for my enlarged pores by the next visit. Ran out of budget, so I stopped visiting the clinic after 2 trips. It's been 2 years after my last visit and I never regretted a single thing. My skin has been under controlled most of the time and if only I had the budget, I would definitely love to have my skin maintained by my dermatologist.

Same! My dermatologist just prescribed mga products from her tapos sobrang mahal so I asked kung may alternative ba tapos di ako sinagot. Hay
