It really depends on what your nightly budget is. There are some really incredible hotels on Kauai and then some great ones that are more reasonably priced

Used to live on Maui, maybe consider a VRBO, too -- Kauai has a lot of rich folks who don't live there year round.

That's where we went! But we stayed at my husband's aunt's house so we didn't have to worry about a hotel. She works at the Plantation? I think that's what it's called. So that's what I'll suggest =)
