If you know what you want as far as quality and cut goes, then you should absolutely buy online! Shop around. Use reputable places like http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds And get a (slightly) better deal on your rip-off-rock.

Got my girls ring at Chiefs. It looks a little shady but they were very nice and I got a great deal after some haggling

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions!

check out thetruthaboutdiamonds.com and do some research, if you buy the main stone online you can get a much better deal on the setting, my friend got a custom designed one at mrt and really liked the service there

Reliable Gold in Wayland Square. Cheesy name, but they've been around since the 1930 s. See Peg, she's a trip. I bought an engagement ring there 5 months ago. Custom ring, designed to my specifications, with top-grade diamonds (certified, paperwork provided). Didn't break the bank, either. Most of their stuff is $$$, but the ring I designed was relatively modest. OH OH OH OH -- if it's a custom ("one of a kind") ring, it qualifies as tax-free art (http://www.arts.ri.gov/projects/salestax/)

Either Ore Jewelers on Atwood ave in Johnston. I've been there quite a few times. Never been disappointed.

MRT. However if you're willing to drive to Attleboro, Attleboro Jewelers is a fantastic place who has done me well many times. The place that made my engagement ring screwed up the main diamond setting. Attleboro Jewelers told me my ring insurance would cover it and did all the work with them and their diamond guy to make it right, and it wasn't even their ring.
Where can I find a good wedding ring jeweler in Rhode Island (near Newport a plus)? Hello. I'm looking to surprise my wife with an updated wedding ring set for V-Day;...

I went to Patenaude's in Fall River: http://patenaudejewelers.com/ Great place, in my opinion, although obviously, there's only so much wedding ring experience one person can get.

The Gold Lady in Wickford! Both my parents have been going there for years and years, and I've started for my watch repairs. The owner is a great guy and he has quality stuff.

Go see Jeff at Portobellos on Bellevue. He's great. Beautiful selection.

You can try Three Golden Apples on Bellvue in Newport. Only place the in-laws use.

I would recommend [Hegeman & Co](http://hegemanandco.com/) in Providence; a bit out of your way but they do great work - my fiance is a graduate of jewelry & metalsmithing from RISD and she uses them for stonesetting work from time to time, always top notch.

I'm late to the party in these comments, but I'm seconding Duris studios in Newport. Kevin (the owner) made our wedding rings last year, and my wife continues to use him to make all her jewelry.

Duris Studios on Franklin St. in Newport. The owners are fantastic and very talented. Hope this helps!
