Morning all. Wondering if these old electric heater control wall thermostats ( probably around 1985) can be painted? Can’t seem to find replacements. Don’t know what...
Michael C. replied:
They can be replaced, you need a line-voltage thermostat of suitable voltage: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=line+voltage+thermostat You can probably paint over it as well, BUT you won't be able to read the markings on the face if you do, and be careful not to block any vents as there is probably a mercury switch in there that needs air to pass through to get current temperature.
Michael C. replied:
This one for $14.99 can do single/double pole (120V or 240V), so would most likely work with any electric baseboard heating. https://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-Premium-Baseboard-Thermostat-YCT410B1000/dp/B000TKFQF0/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1518364027&sr=1-1&keywords=line+voltage+thermostat

if it still works, you may just be able to get a new cover and knob. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00POK9MSW/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_60_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7VT1QT64YPSKBGBXPFC5&dpPl=1&dpID=31GYLISitXL

I am just replacing a bunch. There are some programmable ones for line voltage (electric heat) that also modulate the heat so it's more constant. Some of the basic ones allowed a lot of fluctuation. John Browne. He and his guy Vern did every inch of wire in our house and made sure everything worked perfectly. Plus he is the town's electrical inspector (truro' inspector comes over to inspect his work) so you can be assured everything is 1000% up to code.

Definitely, Long Point Electric. They show up when they say they are going to show up. They actually keep appointments. Something that doesn't happen to often with contractors on the Cape.
Steve M. replied:
Long Point is completely booked through late September. Carlos Silva was recommended as an alternative and he was great.
