Get a stainless steel one. I got mine in a jewelry store for $67.

We got ours from Manly bands. It’s titanium and cost about $150. My husband never takes it off. Our first anniversary is coming up next month :3

FWIW, we bought lovely 14k white gold bands for our wedding that now (after 2.5 years) we rarely wear. About 99% of the time we wear silver silicone rings from Enso Rings -- from their Elements collection. We chose the Elements ones specifically because they are mistaken for metal at a glance. My other half is a first responder and we're both avid motorcyclists, so having something that fits easily under our moto gloves and will protect us from ring avulsion in an accident made it the right decision for us. They also come with a lifetime warranty and amazing customer service.
If I had to do it over again with a tighter budget than we had when we got married, I'd have just stuck with the Enso rings and gotten our fancy metal ones later.
Congratulations on your engagement, btw!!

What's your budget? We purchased my fiance's plain 5mm 14k yellow gold wedding band from Blue Nile for $347.68. They were having a 20% off sale for some reason and it should have been $410 so we saved $82. Pretty sure they do sales often. They have very few brick and mortar stores so they can sell the rings for cheaper because they don't have as many overhead costs like rent, employees, etc. Luckily they had a store near us, otherwise you have to buy online, I think they have a decent return policy though. You could always go to a random ring store and try rings on just to nail down the width, color, etc., that you want, and then order it on a cheaper website. Personally I think this is a steal. I was quoted $1500 for a plain platinum band from another retailer. Granted platinum is more expensive and that band was thicker, but still.

Wal-Mart. Gold bands can be found for under $50. I think I gave $38 for mine.

Go into a jewelry store or even Walmart to get the finger sized so you can be sure whichever you get fits. Walmart has nice men's wedding rings for about $40 which last a long time and don't cost an arm and a leg to replace, but definitely checkout all online options because it's usually cheaper online.

What kind of ring does your fiance want? Does he want a precious metal ring, like gold or does he want an industrial metal like tungsten carbide or titanium? Jewelers sometimes offer warranties, but for a band you might not need something like that. Some online places do have warranties and return policies. The problem with industrial metals is that they are not resizable, like gold. My male partner has had a titanium ring for 10 years and it has a few light scratches but nothing very noticeable. We got it from Titanium Kay online. My platinum ring came from eweddingbands.com and it's held up good over the past 3 years. We had good experiences with both and the prices were decent.

I have a silicone one (actually several now that I rotate). Cost about $8 on amazon (I don't really remember, but they're pretty cheap). Plus side is they're safer (if you do anything mechanical) and pretty much impossible to get a degloving injury.
AmNotLost replied:
Are you just looking for something plain? I just bought ours for maybe $150 total. I went to Penny's, they're always having a sale. If they'd had my size in stock in SS, it would have been like $75 total for both.

Stainless steel, or if he's a mechanic or laborer - silicon.

The ring is symbolic. Buy the least expensive one which your future husband likes. He will be wearing it for the rest of his life.

Guys aren't going to care as long as it fits, and as long as it isn't gaudy or fragile. Mine is titanium, looks like brushed steel, and it cost a little over $100. I plan on being buried with it.

Etsy has great rings. We ordered my fiance's engagement ring from there for $45 for a tungsten ring with a personalized message inside. Get sized at a real jeweler, though.
starbucks_pebbles replied:
Tungsten carbide is a good choice and usually around $200 for a nice-looking ring without any gemstones in it. Tungsten carbide can be broken off of a finger in the event that the wearer's hand is crushed in an accident. That isn't the case with titanium or steel. If your fiance has some tough, hands-on hobbies, TC is the best choice from a safety standpoint.

go to an estate sale. my husband got his for $10 after he lost the $$ one that he got on our wedding day. eventually found the lost one but loves the $10 one, so that's what he's worn for about 20 years.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I (a women) am not into jewelry at all and wanted something super simple. My husband found us matching rings on embr.com and I love them. Simple and inexpensive.

Don’t waste your money. I bought my husband one for like $20 and it’s fine. I also just bought a plain gold band or like $70. Its a symbol of your love, not your wealth.

David Yurman has a few outlet stores around the US (one in Las Vegas, another in Rosemont near Chicago, and I think there are others). Everything is 40% off list price, plus they'll have other sales sometimes. It's a fantastic option. I've gotten a number of men's rings there.
