Can someone who's an electrician help me. If none of the power sockets in a room are working but your lights still turn on what does that mean ??

What the above said really... Sockets are on a separate breaker, usually one upstairs and one downstairs, but Kitchens can also have their own ring main. It will be a 30 or 32Amp breaker or fuse. If it's the circuit breaker type it will have tripped and the switch will be down. Hopefully it should be lablled which one on the fusebox. If it trips again as soon as you set it then you have a fault on the circuit or there is an appliance plugged in that is tripping it. Common things are Kettles that have blown, Hair Dryers, Iron's etc. Usually things with heating elements that have shorted...Unplug everything and try again. If it still trips you need to get an electrician in.
