LOCAL CAB DRIVER STRIKE ON NYE? WRAL Amanda Lamb is riding along with local taxi companies to get their views on the competition and how its affecting them.
Jeff M. replied:
I can personally understand some of the frustrations cab drivers face because of the unregulated ride sharing apps. Unfortunately, a lot of my fellow colleagues do not understand that you have to be proactive in how you approach trying to prove your po int. Change comes through policies and politics. Be a better driver. Be courteous to your customers. Stop ripping people off to make an extra couple bucks. Understand its a business based on customer service and not just driving. As a professional taxi driver, I am not interested in protesting or going on strike against Uber. My job as a professional is to provide an amazing ride experience while getting my customers to their destination safely. Drivers need to stop blaming everyone else and realize the problem is as close as their own ethics and operations. https://www.facebook.com/jeffmots Independent Contractor Taxi Taxi 100 https://Facebook.com/taxitaxi100 ofraleigh
Uber or taxi for early morning flight? I’ve got a flight coming up that leaves at 5:45 am and I live about 10-15 minutes from the airport. Does anyone have any...
I_drive_all_over replied:
you can schedule an uber
highjackpot replied:
Yep, I can also add to the chorus. I’ve used Uber in the 5 o’clock hour to get to the airport with no problem.

Thanks for the info everyone

I’ve scheduled with Lyft for this kind of thing several times and have had no issues.
gringo_neenja replied:
Uber or Lyft will be fine. I can’t personally recommend RDU Taxi. I’ve been burnt too many times in the exact situation you’re describing. Either their online scheduling software didn’t work, or they just wouldn’t answer the phone when I called. I do see their cabs around pretty frequently, though. But that’s usually further out in Cary, Durham, etc. Maybe the Brier Creek to RDU fare just wasn’t enough for them?
pierretong replied:
The airport is usually really busy at 5/6 AM weekdays due to business flights - Uber/Lyft people know this so they'll be out and about doing rides. I've never had a problem getting an unscheduled ride that early in the morning.
xenner replied:
Do it quite frequently for work travel. No issues.
crayon_fire replied:
I always use RDU taxi, the one that operates out of the airport. Never had any problems and when you come back you don't have to schedule anything, just walk up to them. I've used them at 4 am before, they text you when they're in the way and send you a tracking link.
lordhelmit91 replied:
I would do Uber. I've never had an issue catching uber at 4, 5, 6 AM especially to the airport.
mlawkczuemake replied:
Uber will work then. I've taken lots of flights that early and I always Uber to the airport. Sometimes it's a bit sketch with just 1 or 2 drivers up at that time, so I would plan on being at the airport an hour (at least) early. But that is good practice anyway.
devilized replied:
It depends where you live. I'm up towards 98 just north of Brier Creek and I've had trouble getting an Uber or Lyft at that time. When I was further south closer to Brier Creek, it wasn't an issue.
rvapsa replied:
If you do take an Uber make sure not to tip. /s There's a group of Uber drivers that drive during that morning shift so you should be fine. Also, you're right, the schedule feature just requests a driver at that time, it's no guarantee that you'll get someone.

I would chuck the disposable cameras cos that's just another expense, plus you would also need to pay for the photos to be developed and you might end up paying to develop loads that aren't any good. Everyone has cameras and cameraphones these days, I would set up a private facebook group or use a website like wedpics.com that guests can upload the photos they take on the day to. You could just leave a wee note of the site address on people's plates asking them to upload them to that site, then you can pick and choose the ones you want and it won't cost anything at all!
Lol in Raleigh? No prob then. Prob 15-20. 919 782 5893 is their office number. Give them a call. Tell them u want to get a good rate because u will be a consistent customer and an easy fare.
