School Green in Shinfield - there is a bird rescue a few doors up from the bike shop. Sorry but I don't know what it is called, something Gables I think. There is a sign on the gate (not easy to spot when driving but very clear when you walk past).

It's in Wokingham, but Emmview vets in Woosehill are worth travelling for. They've just done major surgery on my 16 week old puppy because she fractured her elbow on Monday, and they've been amazing, I can't rate them enough

Vets. Anyone recommend their vet? Is it reasonably priced?
We now have 5 cats and go to Beechwood in Woodley, whom I like, but I sometimes wonder if I could get the...
Karen M. replied:
We have used Shinfield Vets for years, and have found them very good and I think their prices are quite competitive with other surgeries in the area; our cats consultation was £28. Plus, we've always been able to get an appointment at short notice, which is helpful in an emergency!
Deborah D. replied:
Nicolas Doye. We defo need to move vets!
Janet W. replied:
We use Shinfield Road Vets.

So people are happy with both Pets at Home (Companion Vets) branches, Easipetcare, Shinfield Rd and my current Beechwood. I'll look into all of them, thank you all!

thanks for all the info guys, I will definitely stay clear of furry friends! Anybody use Active Vet care in Tilehurst? and just out of interest as I know they are a budget vet... whats everyones experience of easipet in woodley I think it is.
Claire W. replied:
Avtive Vet Care are the ones in School Road. They're not the cheapest but I can't recommend them enough, I have used them for 15 years and they've been great when my dogs have been puppies right through until they passed away
Elizabeth E. replied:
I was at Active Vets on School Road until recently when.I changed to Castle whom I as with for years with my cats. Active we're ok, didn't do anything wrong I could put my finger on but felt i was just another name on their books. I swooped to Castle and visited them with my dog for a cut paw last month. The vet was fantastic, didn't force my dog onto the table, spend ages chatting, didn't charge the earth when she could have done. I'm having my bitch spayed there shortly. They have a set £220 fee which includes EVERYTHING. They will also let me be there when she is heavily sedated and doesn't know I've gone and again when she is due to wake. My sister's dog is nervous visit in the vets so she waits in the car and the vet lets her know when they're ready. Great service all round.
Samantha B. replied:
We take our little angel to Castle Vets on Tilehurst Rd. We've had a few procedures there - spaying, microchipping and even stapling her leg after she was attacked. They've been lovely every time and she seems pretty comfortable going there
Helen T. replied:
Castle Vets for my dog. Personally I wouldn't use a budget vets.
Can anyone recommend a local (to cemetery junction in Reading) vet please - must have 24 hour service. Thanks
Fiona L. replied:
I'm not sure any are 24 hours. Most seem to use "Vets Now" for out of hours. Shinfield vets does Saturdays and Sundays as well as bank holidays, though, on shortened opening times. I used to use Abbey Vets on London Road, but Mr Cockett sold it and they seem to have a high turnover of vets. I really like Shinfield vets and have been great with Bunty's bowels. (Don't ask)
Can anyone recommend a vet practice which deals with small animals and would be able to have a look at our pet gerbil? His eyes have gone from brown to milky white and...
