I took her to Reservoir Veterinary Clinic who were closing at 7pm but when I called at 6.50 pm were very happy for me to bring her in right there and then given the situation. They were fantastic and I'm thinking of swapping vets as my original vet couldn't fit me in (called at 6.50 and they finished at 7.30pm)... My usual vet also told me about 2 emergency clinics (Essendon and Collingwood). When I asked if they were the closest she knew (not ideal to travel too far with sick dog in the car), she stated that there was one in Bundoora but she doesn't recommend it. When I asked if there was a specific reason why (thinking they must not be a great service etc) she said that they don't refer clients back to their clinic or something and are highly competitive - that the two clinics don't have a good relationship. I stated that Bundoora was much closer to me and that I was keen to go to the closest, given that I'd be traveling with a vomitting dog, so she somewhat reluctantly gave me the number. Wow. So much for putting a sick animal first!! Unbelievable.
