vegamót`s food is disgusting!! saegreifinn is not as good as it used to be. Vid Tjörnin is cosy and has great food.
Elin L. replied:
Kaffi Rósenberg - good food and often good music. Nauthóll - good cheap food. Höfnin is expensive and Þrír Frakkar is a tourist trap - stay away.
Douglas L. replied:
The Sea Baron. Rustic, really good and cheap, but not much in the way of ambiance or seating.

If you need a big breakfast and/or some strong coffee as well as lots of books, try Graí Kötturinn (The Gray Cat) on Hverfisgata. It's right across the street from Þjóðmenningarhús (The Culture House) and opens early. Good for those who arrive in Reykjavik early in the morning after an over-night flight and can't yet get into their lodgings.

Solon Bistro does great food and has a wonderful atmosphere in a trendy setting. For a more rustic experience try the Sea Baron in the harbour for its fish kebabs, lobster soup and crusty bread.
Renee R. replied:
Cafe Haiti in the harbour is great, too.

Café Paris, or Loki, right over from the church, visit the church, and then go to Loki for, Skryr cake, or rye bread ice cream, or chocolate cake piled with cream, or the shark. The coffee is really good, and the price just right. Or buy the coffee and a big bag of Klene, some bread, and go to the Tjornen Lake in the middle of town, and feed the ducks. The coffee, and the Klene is for humans, the bread for the ducks.
