Decided to quit wasting time on making so-so beer and gear up a bit. I got a stir-plate and the STC-1000 controller. Looking to get a Ernmyler Flask (2000 ml, yes?) and...

Consider a used full size fridge if you have the space (a used fridge costs about as much as a danby new and can be had for the price of $0 very often if you have the means to truck it away from the person who wants to get rid of it). The number 1 factor in getting away from "so so" homebrew is happy yeast and those yeast are happiest whose temperature is best controlled. I would not buy an air pump for aerating wort. I assume you wish to bump up your oxygen content before pitching(?). Better value is an oxygen bottle (even the disposable ones sold at home depot will last a fairly long time). Erlenmyer flask is nice and all but I find one gallon cider bottles (ie the kind that organic apple juice gets sold in) do a great job on a stir plate - though obviously you cannot use them to boil the wort in initially. Please check with David O in regards to a DIY stirplate (I have one built per his design) before shelling out for a commercial type.
