Unfortunately Parks Victoria have increased their prices dramatically but looking on their booking website many of their camp sites are booked out near the Great Ocean Rd, including Johanna Beach http://www.parkstay.vic.gov.au/great-otway-national-park-west-kennett-river-to-princetown

There is a very good spot a little further south at Burringbar, between Murwillumbah and Mooball on the Tweed Valley Way [old Highway] opposite a small regional shopping centre but it is for 20 hours only, not sure if that is policed though. Elanda Point $12 unpowered; on lake Cootharabah; lots of space; canoe hire etc. No Worries Camp was $5 + $2 for shower when I was there a few weeks ago.
