That's what I do i just get the exam and then buy my glasses on coastal.com but with my son he needs to have ones fit to his face. So I buy there glasses.

Dr. Chen at Focus Optometry. Medi-cal pays for an adults exam, but not for the glasses. Zennioptical.com has good deals on glasses though and Dr. Chen's staff will print your prescription out for you.

I thought Dr. Mallory was good, his staff could be better. Be prepared to be there for 3 hours though and get called back late. I think it's worth the wait since good doctors are hard to find in Ridgecrest.

Dr. Chen@Focus Optometry on Drummond. My last visit was with Dr. Mallory and it was alright. I have no complaints, other than the long wait, but my husband and son have been seen more recently by Dr. Chen. I sat through the appointment with my son and it seemed to be a more thorough exam and she didn't rush us. It's his first time having glasses, so he had several questions. Also, our wait time was less than half of what I normally experience.

Medi-cal will pay for adult exams but not frames or lenses. Dr. Mallory accepts children. Dr. Chen at the corner of Drummond and Downs also takes medi-cal and will examine children or adults.
