I'm sorry no one has answered you... But the hotels on Galveston are just expensive, because they can be. We stayed at Harbor House at Pier 21 a few years ago, but they were just recovering after the hurricane and it was cheap (and there wasn't a two-night minimum). I couldn't afford it today (or wouldn't.) And that's on the harbor, not beach, side! Maybe stay on the mainland and drive over? Or keep your eyes open for Groupons, etc.?
