Has anyone been to Worldmark New Orleans? Do I need a car rental to get around? Any ideas when is the best time to visit as far as the weather. Thanks.

As Glenn says a car is not needed in town but if you want to visit the surrounding area, ,,maybe..but .there are plantation tours that I think will pick you up at Avenue Plaza.. so you probably wont need a car at all Valet parking is available at the resort's garage, at $12 a day (unlimited ins and outs),,If you have a car, this is the best deal in town The St Charles Ave streetcar runs all night long http://www.norta.com/ dont forget to ask for a tour of the Ashley House...the haunted house on the property https://plus.google.com/photos/103011696051496221261/albums/5948580134814826977?banner=pwa

Ron Alderson... welcome to my world..we have the noseems here in Florida too, and the screens dont keep them out either Myrna..you will have a problem with the streetcars, I was in New Orleans not long after a knee surgery I had no problem boarding, but getting off was a trip.

We've been several times, and I used to live in NOLA. Streetcar in the day, taxi at night is the safest way. Go to Mother's (on Poydras) for a Debris Po-Boy, and catch the ferry at the end of canal street over to Algiers for dinner. Acme Oyster House is popular with tourists, but Felix's across the street is better, IMO. If you're taking a rest day, the little market (Williams?) on the corner by the resort has hot food, including po-boys and meat pies, and Igor's is a neat little neighborhood bar right next door. It's also fun to ride the trolley to the west, check out the Tulane and Loyola (They're right across from Audubon Park (aquarium & zoo), then go real tourist and try O'Henry's when you hit Carrolton Ave, just to throw peanuts on the floor!

If your goal is to enjoy NO, a car will be in your way. If you wish to go to other places in the area, a car is necessary. My stay at WM NO included both, so I picked up the car for the trips to Lafayette and the Mississippi Coast. The streetcar is a delight b itself. As far as when to visit, I prefer January. The Mardi Gras visitors have not arrived; and the hot humid weather that dominates the summer is no where near.
