Jaqutina L. replied:
Dr. Laura can provide the health check, vaccinations etc. You take her records to Agriculture and they provide the certification needed by Immigration at the various ports. The airlines vary in their policies. Not all have in cabin for pets. All information is available online. Check both the airlines and US Immigration.
Jaqutina L. replied:
I traveled San Juan via Cape Air and I believe it was America Airlines to Philly toting a cat carrier on each shoulder. Everything went smoothly but I was not comfortable taking each cat out of the carrier and walking through security. Either the herbal calming drops worked and/or they were petrified but I was lucky that neither escaped and they are now happy to be living in Canada.

Hello beautiful people! Does anyone know of a Humane Society or Animal Hospital that are in need of help/donation?
Connie K. replied:
This group does a wonderful job in Virgin Gorda. https://www.facebook.com/Arc-Animal-Rescue-Control-of-Virgin-Gorda-674666029240090/
Laura B. replied:
The vet from CCC on Tortola has been working with Humane Society International and PAW BVI to care for the animals on the islands and evacuate those that can be evacuated- including helping animal caregivers who are off island or trying to evacuate themselves get their animals off island with them. Since Maria hit St. Croix they've been sharing resources with groups over there to do the same - particularly since the donations to the BVIs wishlist are being shipped via St. Croix. https://www.facebook.com/groups/143370169599924/permalink/149670338969907/
Great afternoon to everybody!
We are new to Tortola and I need some local advise :-)
We have my pup coming with us (she is adult and well educated) , looking for pet...
Kate P. replied:
Hi Yuli, you can check out the FB page Help Animals in the BVI for vet info (pinned to the top of the page) - https://www.facebook.com/groups/278216215566127/?ref=ts&fref=ts Nanny Cay is a very dog-friendly place as is the Tamarind Club and dogs are allowed on the beaches here (I'm sure you already do, but please be sure to pick up after your pet!). Please be aware that many residents and particularly children are frightened of dogs (no matter how docile, friendly or well behaved they are), so it is a good idea to keep your dog on a leash when out for a walk, and especially on the beaches. There is a business called Pet Planet in Fish Bay that comes highly recommended for dog grooming - you will be able to get their number if you do a search on this page or search on Google. Welcome to the BVI - hope you enjoy it here - there are many dog lovers, so you will be in good company!
Heather C. replied:
The link above is to the fb group that Kate Purdy mentioned. As she said, there are useful numbers pinned at the top including he Humane society, Dr Laura who is here three days per week and Dr Martin and Dr Smith who are vets that do home visits.

Be sure to check in with the Department of Agriculture for the import conditions: http://www.bvi.gov.vg/content/animal-import-permits
Claire P. replied:
Hi, I am not sure where you have come from but pet dogs here need to be on regular medication for ticks and heartworm, which are both killers. There are different medications out there that you can try. My dogs are on heartguard for heartworm and then comfortis for ticks. Other people might recommend other meds - it is all about what works for your dog. Maybe schedule a visit to the vet to discuss options. I would recommend either Dr Laura from Canine Cats & Critters or Vijay at the Humane Society is also very knowledgeable.
