Does anyone know of a good custom tailor. Not a suit tailor, a custom
tailor. I have been to 5 tailors and they can't help me. I need a jacket repaired.
I'm looking for a tailor to take in pants and skirts ~ any recommendations?

Gus & Dons may do good work but they are not reasonable, I highly reccomend Linda Chesterton Schelstra on Bay Rd. - 787-9141....excellent work and very reasonable, she was 1/2 the price and did more than they were going to on a very intricate gown ! She does a lot of gowns but now that prom season is winding down she might not be so busy, but then again it's wedding season so you might have to wait....
Looking for a tailor I know this has been discussed before but I assume some of these people have since retired. I would like to replace the zipper on my coat and would...

Thimble Tailor in Loehmann's Plaza Brighton, near the Tops and Dibella's. I've had regular clothing tailored there (pants, suit, etc) and also activewear and they came out great. I had them shorten a pair of ski pants and couldn't even tell which seam was the one they had put in vs the original stitching to the garment. While most of the pants are falling apart due to 6 subsequent years of use, the work they did is still holding strong. As an aside, most of the big brands (Columbia, Marmot, etc) will warranty and replace zippers and the like (have done that too) and even repair panels on things like jackets with the original material if you send them in. But you'll typically have to pay postage at least one way and wait, so it may just be easier to handle locally.

Yemmhi over at Ricky's Tailoring in Brighton is the best. He's done a lot for me and always excellent work and not expensive

As a very short man, I've tried a bunch of tailors over the years on the east side and even drove out to one on the west side. In my experience,Thimble is outstanding and the only place I'll go. And, thanks for the reminder that I have a pair of Carharts there was supposed to pick up last week.

I've been very happy with Thomas Tailor for many years. It is in Brighton Commons on the Monroe side of the building. Park at the ESL Credit Union and cross the Brighton Commons road to the tailor shop on the corner of the Commons. The website quotes the cost of each type of alteration. https://www.thomastailorshoproc.com/

I've used several of the tailors mentioned in this thread, all were very good. But in my opinion, Aldo's on Monroe in Brighton is the best.

Had great and very reasonably priced service from the Thimble Tailor for years. 1900 S Clinton Ave in the Brighton Tops plaza

Thimble Tailor is fantastic. Just walk in and change in one of the four nice changing rooms they have, and then go to one of the two mirrors where they do the fittings. Someone personable with experience and good judgment will then quickly come over and do the fitting. It usually takes 4 or 5 days for the alterations, but they can often do it quicker if you ask them. I can’t say enough nice things about them.

Echoing thimble. Quick, reasonably priced, and most importantly done perfectly the first time.
