I would look at the beaches in Florida, St. Pete beach or siesta key like mentioned earlier, but you can rent a vacation home these days cheaper than a hotel, right on the beach! We did that the last 3 years just look for vacation homes rentals I think it's www.vrbo.com. We rented a million dollar house for 3 families with a pool for a week for $1000.

The Circle Line is a great tour of the harbor. Frankie and Johnny's in the Bronx had excellent Italian food.

If you think you want to be right in the heart of Times Square, the Marriott Marquis is great. They have a rotating restaurant at the top as well which is fun. Bring your most comfortable shoes because walking is the way to go for midtown.

I love NYC, we stayed in New Jersey and took the bus in and did a lot of walking but it was well worth it! We also took the Staten Island Ferry in which is free! Saw Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Freedom Tower/ 911 site. You could do that all in one day. Then we took the bus in the next day and went to The Intrepid Museum, very cool but make sure you set aside enough time to see everything. Have been to Museum of Natural History, lower half of Central park, Times Square of course but you must take in a Broadway show!! Macy's, Empire State Building soooo much to see, how long are you staying?? Hope you find a nice central place to stay and prepare to do a lot of walking, it will save you a ton of money on parking or cab fees! Have fun!!
