I like Hotel Doc just across from the Porta Susa station. Inexpensive, clean. I also think Torino is beautiful. I live in Lucca, but have always liked Torino.
use to live in rome in 2011, i come back all the time and I'm here now, but this heat is killing me and the kid! can anyone suggest a not so far get away to a seaside...

Go to lake martignagno. http://www.casaledimartignano.it Lovely place to stay and swim. Very peaceful but only 35 mins from Rome by car!
