Just saw on tv edmunds.com suggested an app that shows average repair prices for automotive reapirs, either at a shop or a mechanic that comes by. In NY if you go to a Registered MV shop with a sticker your reapir is protected by the NYS dept. of MV safety. Otherwise its not. Not sure abouut CA. The friends above seem good. Also todays water pumps don't last forever.

I’ve had good luck with Prestige on franklin Blvd. the owner Andre is a BMW guy through and through. He even goes to Germany for BMW training... but the prices are reasonable. Much better service than I received at European Sports Car garage, which I went to once. For reference, my car is a E46 325 i.
