Any of my Long Island friends have any recommendations for physical therapists on the north shore? Shoreham/Wading River/Rocky Point/Miller Place/Mt. Sinai/Port Jeff...

I don't personally know anyone or any places in your neck of the woods, however I can help steer you in the right direction. If you find a local place, look them up and make sure- #1 The practice is owned by a physical therapist, not a doctor, doctor's office, or some type of large corporation. (DPT is okay, that's just a PT with an advanced degree). The physician-owned places tend to be about turning profit and care is usually quite inferior. (No offense to my bro, of course!!!) In fact they are supposed to be illegal due to conflict-of-interest (self-referral) but I know some places find loopholes. And #2- The therapist(s) have experience and training in spinal rehab or manual therapy techniques. There are plenty of PT's out there (myself included) who have a very general education in management of spinal conditions. That is really and truly a specialty area- more so than anything else in PT- and you want someone who has a good knowledge base. If you go to a general practitioner you may be wasting your time and money to a large degree. If location was not an issue, this is who I would recommend: http://www.nyspinept.com/index.htm Good luck with your search and let me know how it turns out!!!
