Tom I was out with work for a month a few years ago. To be honest, the beach and everything else are quite far from each other. Jumeirah Beach Resort is decent if you want to be on the beachfront and overlooks the Burj. But to be honest you'll never be too far from anything wherever you are as taxis are easy and monorail has improved getting around.
