As per SBRC's last newsletter: "Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ) will be hosting a free legal clinic at the Hazlet Campus of Brookdale Community College (One Crown Plaza, Hazlet NJ). VLJ provides legal services to those affected by hurricane Sandy as well as economically-disadvantaged groups of people through volunteer attorneys that have been recruited and trained. If you have a legal issue resulting from the storm, VLI can offer advice, brief services and free legal counseling. For those who qualify financially, placement with an attorney is also a possibility. Volunteers include solo practitioners, partners, associates, and administrative staff from law firms and corporations of all sizes throughout New Jersey and New York. VLJ provides attorneys with exemptions from mandatory pro bono assignments after 25 hours of voluntary service. The next clinic date to be held at Brookdale College’s Hazlet campus is this Friday August 9 from 9 am-12 pm. If you miss this week the following clinic will be also held at the Hazelt campus on Friday, Aug 23. If you are unable to attend these clinics in person, please call the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice toll free number (855) 301-2525." Good luck!
