Anyone know a good dog trainer?
My dog has no manners but he's really smart. Knows tricks like: here, sit, wait, shake, lay down, play dead, speak..
but he's aggressive...

Jacqueline Sharron McNabb using a shock collar on an aggressive animal is a recipe for disaster. Its a band aid for the real problem. Please check out Robin McHale Ehn at Celtic Cur training. She uses positive reinforcement. It is what's needed to help an aggressive/fearful dog.

Uc Davis but it's 500 and you have to drive back and forth one day a week for 8 weeks
Adri P. replied:
Absolutely do NOT use a shock collar. Any good dog trainer does not use shock collars. In fact, studies show that shock collars can make dogs even more aggressive. Aggression is rooted in fear, and when you shock a dog you're just making them more fearful of the situation. Please read the following link; http://4 pawsu.com/shockcollar.htm
Adri P. replied:
Also, don't listen to people who tell you to use the Dog Whisperer's methods. These are extremely outdated and cruel. Read the following information about why his training methods should not be used; http://4 pawsu.com/dogpsychology.htmhttp://4 pawsu.com/cesarfans.htm

Hello - Our Furry Friends Training Center in Diamond Springs has been in business in various Counties in Northern California since 1999. We have a special right now for 2 private lessons for $99. We also offer a WIDE variety of obedience classes and our average number of people in a class is 3 so you don't get lost in the crowd. Please don't use shock collars for jumping up or a knee in the chest - there are much better and more effective ways. I am happy to talk with you on the phone and give you a few tips to get you started. 622-PUPS HEre is a helpful article also. http://www.dog-b-good.com/DoggieDoorManners.html
