Seconding Theodore Payne. If you're ever in Orange County the Tree of Life Nursery is amazing. I've also heard of there being a good native plant place near Santa Barbara but know much less about it tbh.

There is [this](https://www.cnps.org/) site which will give you more information on the California Native Plant Society. There is also a Facebook group to share information. There are many local nurseries and plant shops that carry natives. Theodore Paine is a wonderful place as well, just wanted to give you you an extra link to more information. Coastal LA is a large area, there are many avenues to finding plants, especially natives. Good luck

[Calscape](https://calscape.org/nurseries.php) is a website managed by the CNPS that has a list of nurseries and a native plant database to help you choose plants. If the listed nurseries are too far for you, there may be an [Armstrong](https://www.armstronggarden.com/locations) location near you, they tend to stock a few natives and can order them for you if needed. In addition to local nurseries, [Las Pilitas Nursery](https://www.laspilitas.com/) and [Annie's Annuals](https://www.anniesannuals.com/plants/lists/?list=california-native-plants) both sell natives shipped by mail.

Anawalt has a native section. Usually lots of native buckwheats, ceanothus, aster, penstemon, salvias, verbena, desert mallow, monkey flower, etc. Selection's always changing so I check periodically.
Any local florists open in Sac/ surrounding areas? Does anyone know of any local flower shops/ florists that are still trying to maintain their business during COVID?...
uhhuhwut replied:
There are a few open. A quick Google search found Madison Avenue Florist is still open and offering contactless deliveries https://madisonavenueflorist.net/
Teabagger_Vance replied:
I’m surprised florists are considered “essential” businesses.
hey_m00n replied:
you can order a cute bouquet for pickup on Saturday in (or delivery to your door if you live IN) Davis from Flower Mama - [http://www.califlowermama.com/shop/bouquet](http://www.califlowermama.com/shop/bouquet) Also Safeway has a generally nice selection of CA grown flowers so you can still support local flower growers that way. I don't usually buy from florists as the markup is insane.
muckinaball replied:
Relles Florist in midtown is still open, only 10-2 m-f. They prefer online order and parking lot pickup. https://rellesflorist.com/ They're also doing delivery once a day.

Relles Florist on J street is open. They are doing 50% off flowers to try and still make some money!

Can anyone ID this plant? It was collected in the Valley in Fresno County at a fairly disturbed site. Leaves have a dense covering of fine, appressed hairs. No flowers...

The photo is not of enough resolution to enlarge. It appears to be an Asteraceae..perhaps a species of Lessingia? ... http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query...
John D. replied:
Something about the density of the flowers on the stem of your second plant reminds me of Lythraceae.... Also try Lythrum californicum...was this near a wetland? http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query...

The second plant might be Lythrum californicum... http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi/img_query...
