If you want a more upmarket seafood on the beach there is a great place called Sams On The Beach in Polkerris which is just around the coast from St Austell.

On the way there be sure to stop off at the Crown Inn just after Lostwithiel for lunch. A really lovely pub serves great food, signposted off the main road if you're travelling on the A390.

Not fish, but the Gurkha restaurant in the city centre was nice.

Charlie's boat house in Charlestown is well recommended.

[Knightor winery](http://www.knightor.com/) nr the eden project is very nice but ring first as they have weird opening times and can be shut for weeks at a time. Food is great though. Up the road in Lostwithiel - [Terra Nova](http://www.terranovabistro.co.uk/) and [Trewithen](http://www.trewithenrestaurant.com/) are both good. Fowey has some good food and haven't had anything nasty there yet. If you get the little foot ferry across to Polruan, both the [Lugger](http://www.luggerinnpolruan.co.uk) and [Russell Inn](http://www.russellinn.co.uk/) do good bar food with freshly caught fish.
Hi - Is the restaurant open again in the Med biome please?
Eden P. replied:
Hi Sarah, the restaurant in the Med Biome is open for a special bookable lunch on Mother's Day (http://www.edenproject.com/visit-us/whats-on/kids-and-families/mothers-day) and then it will re-open on 28 March for lunch (simply turn up) and then from Easter for bookable evening meals (dates yet to be confirmed).

Sam's on the beach, not too far a drive away, right on the beach, book in advance as very popular. Little but expensive but so nice, if it's too expensive there us a pub right next to it that's a bit cheaper.

Not food, but if you like beer, the St Austell brewery do tours, which are very good indeed. Also, for nice pubs, port Charles is wonderful. Are you reliant on public transport, or will you have a car?
Can anyone recommend a relaxed, casual, log burning type pub/restaurant (similar to the Polgooth Inn) within a 30 minute drive of St Austell? Want to try somewhere...
