What Gwyn said is right. My instructor was amazing, he'll get you through the gears and a master of them in no time! Stuart Taylor 07860 596947 FWIW, I'm originally from the US, where 99% of the cars are automatic. (I was lucky, my father insisted on teaching me manual as well, so even though I never used it until I moved to Europe years ago, I knew how to...). Automatics are not a great driving experience, at all. And it makes it harder to rent a car, along with the other things people have mentioned. Definitely give manual a try - you can always choose to have an automatic car, but with an automatic-only licence, you can only have an auto.
