Just an FYI via the Mayo Clinic: "Alternative medicine By Mayo Clinic Staff Studies indicate that the following treatments for scoliosis are ineffective: Chiropractic manipulation Electrical stimulation of muscles Biofeedback
Rebecca C. replied:
"Passive manipulation (Chiropractic) is not an acceptable treatment for scoliosis of any kind. Passive manipulation of the spine provides short term symptomatic relief for muscle spasm, but does not impact the size of the curve or the rate of progression. Patients with scoliosis are encouraged to not rely on chiropractic “adjustments” as a means of treatment since these are essentially equal to no treatment at all." http://www.sonoranspine.com/adult-scoliosis.html Sorry...there are some conditions I think are better served by an MD. How about getting a second opinion? (I have a great orthopedic guy I can refer you to.)
Rebecca C. replied:
His name is Dr. Timothy Heyne. He's at Precision Orthopedics on Abbott St. He's been my ortho specialist for several years now.

A second opinion couldn't hurt. The Mayo Clinic tends to know what they are talking about, and even it if works for a few people, or even worked for me when I was little, it may not now if what they said is remotely true. Thanks for looking out mom, love you bunches!!

Precision Orthopedics: absolutely amazing. Pretty much the best collective group of docs in our area. They are also the orthos that work with the CCS medical therapy unit (aka where the most disabled littles in our area go for OT and PT) fitting kids with assistive devices and surgical options for further mobility. I wish you good luck, and hope that you are able to find a path that gives you the most relief and success.
