Granite Peaks also offers a drop in class for $5 at Cottonwood High school on Thursday nights. I would say the play level is B/C. More info at: http://schools.graniteschools.org/granitepeaks/

There's Rock City Climbing in Brea/Yorba Linda. I was there for a year before I moved back out to Corona. It was pretty nice, and the people were awesome. http://www.rockcityclimbing.com/

There is a gym in Riverside called Hangar 18 that is very fun. It is huge and the owner does a side business of making unique holds (Climb-It Holds). Highly recommend.

I know CSULB has a climbing wall as well...I'm not sure if you need to be a student for not but worth checking out.
bananabelle replied:
The 24 hour fitness next to John Wayne Airport has a rock climbing wall. Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for, but it's only about 15 minutes away from Mission Viejo and right off of the 405. It's a bit pricey though, but you get access to all 24 hour fitnesses throughout the nation as well.

Galen G. replied:
Monsters makes a line of sports headphones that are the best I've used. They stay in the ear lobe no matter how much I might be weaving or bobbing down a trail, and, more important to me, the wire is thicker. This is important as I have lost several headphones where the wire snags on a bush alongside the trail and ripped apart. Instead, these stay together and pull from the ipod, but the headphones are not destroyed. In-line controls permit fwd/reverse/pause/vol+- while keeping them in-ear. I have the Strive model. They don't block out sound so that I can hear bikers behind/ahead of me and rattlers giving warning. http://www.monsterproducts.com/products/headphones/in-ear

That price point is fairly low and you have some challenging requirements. I would recommend the Mio Link which is my personal favorite if you have a watch to connect it to already or check out the HRM straps from Wahoo, like the Wahoo Tickr. On the gym equipment, you'll need to know the brand and confirm that you can even connect to it. I know only Polar heart rate straps seem to work at my gym. What I would normally recommend is an Epson Runsense SF-810 with integrated optical heart rate monitor, but it's $159 and you won't find anything similar for less money. http://amzn.to/2 hHa1 mM
