You might also consider heading south of the border to Valle de Guadalupe. Some fantastic wineries and restaurants down there. Deckman's en El Mogor even has a Michelin-starred chef. Make sure you bring your passports though, as they are required to cross back into the US.

Just went to Ramona with the in laws for the first time and it was a lot of fun. By far miles above the rest that we visited was Grant James. Amazing wine, beautiful setting and the vintner and her husband are awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable. There are some fun places tucked away on dirt roads. Just pull up a map and go for any of them.

Bernardo Winery (up in Rancho Bernardo) is really excellent. They have some cool historical stuff and massive redwood foeders that are pretty neat to look at

Might be a bit far north, but Temecula has some great vineyards, wineries and tasting rooms.

Blue Door Winery is our go-to. We're part of their wine club. They have a spot in Julian as well as an urban place off Morena Boulevard if you don't want to make the drive.
Who can recommend a place to stay and enjoy winery in Valle de Guadalupe or Jalisco Mexico? Somewhere you or someone you trust has been and found it to be excellent?
