We’re not taking on new clients, but I do taxes for a living. Don’t concern yourself with getting a refund, concern yourself with paying the correct amount, on time, to avoid penalties. If you are getting paid with RSU’s and you owe tax when you file, most likely it was just insufficient tax withheld when the shares vested. When you find a new tax advisor, see if they are willing to do tax planning with you during the year. They can take a look at you and your wife’s paystubs and vesting schedule and determine how much, if any, additional tax will be owed.

I have been pleased with Steve Larson; https://slarson.com. He’s done my taxes for over five years, including handling RSUs and ESPP purchases and various retirement accounts. I have paid $400-800 depending on how many additional consultation meetings I requested. Some years, including 2019 taxes I have handled it entirely via email and one trip to his office to sign paperwork.
He has always been able to answer my questions, including helping me setup spreadsheets to track RSU vesting, ESPP purchases, when to sell each to minimize taxes owed, and things to consider when purchasing a home in regards to taxes. I will be using him again.
Mention my username as referring you if you use him, I do get a discount on my next tax filling for this.
