My car was stuck in park and could not be moved so he came to my house and fixed it! I don't know if he is considered cheap but you can maybe get an estimate! His name is Richard De Jesus! Jeff from Airport Motors in Goleta is one of the most honest mechanics I've ever met. he and his son run a great family business and charge fair and affordable prices for their services. I've lived in santa barbara for 4 years. A coworker of mine (santa barbara native, lived here 40+ years) recommended him to me when i had car issues when i first moved here. here's my story: my car (1999 honda accord) didn't pass a smog test in 2010 because according to the smog shop, apparently the catalytic converters from out of state weren't up to California specifications. the smog shop was happy to replace my converters and perform the smog for $1300.... i was complaining about this at work and that's when Someone told me to go to airport motors. Jeff from airport motors did the whole thing for $120, including the smog certificate. talk about an honest mechanic. Disclaimer: i have nothing to do with airport motors other than i'm a happy customer.

Funny, I just came to reddit to ask this very question! Though the car in particular that needs repairs is an old VW Jetta, if that makes any difference at all in the recommendations.

If you own a Honda or Acura, you MUST go see Robert at DiMauro in Goleta. Great mechanic, honest, fair. When we recently had to replace a car, buying a Honda jumped way up on our preference list solely because of Robert. Second vote for Willie at Top Shop. And if you have some weird-ass problem that nobody can diagnose, HP AutoWerks is incredible. They fixed a serious problem with my Audi that Audi couldn't fix *in a month of trying.*
