Try calling John at Johnny Pacific in Winnetka. The guy is an artist and caters a lot. He was even flown to Hawaii to cater a wedding something. He's brilliant. He has a small restaurant in Winnetka that you really should try. http://johnnypacificeats.com/ Tell him I sent you.

Does anybody know of a good place to eat around the Getty? I know they have places there but I want to take my mother and sister somewhere else???
Denise S. replied:
The restaurant inside the Getty is a bit pricey but the food was actually good, if you decide to hang around. http://www.getty.edu/visit/downloads/getty_restaurant_lunch.pdf
Karen B. replied:
Fab Hot Dogs in Westwood, Sepi's Sub's
Paula M. replied:
Ok how about Mannys? The map shows it pretty close by: http://www.mannyspizzeria.com/
Tavern is good and on San Vincente very close to the museum. Or if you want something more casual, Coral Tree Cafe is across the street.
Celina L. replied:
Gettys cafeteria is actually pretty good just a bit pricey. The Palomino in Westwood is nice in http://m.palomino.com/menu-westwood.php but also agree with the San Vicente choices in Brentwood.
Portland with 4 kids on a Saturday. Already know that we'll VooDoo donuts and Saturday market. Suggestions for a relatively inexpensive late lunch/early dinner? Bonus...

Speaking of Papa restaurants, I love Papa Haydn on NW 23 rd. Fun, trendy area with shops to look around also. They have a kids' menu. Their menus are online.
Lori R. replied:
Papa G has a lot of soy, right? That's what it looks like on-line.
Lori R. replied:
Salt and Straw looks amazing...Mother's is out of budget for 6 people....Pok Pok looks amazing, but not so agreeable to some of the little people...Waffle Window looks like a winner...Tasty and Sons looks crazy good...
Lori R. replied:
Mike FTW on the Portlandia reference...I might be better off meeting the mayor at Ed Beagley Jr's place a few storefronts down....
Julie O. replied:
The food truck parks are amazing and all over the city. Also, Mother's is great: http://www.mothersbistro.com for casual family friendly food.

If you don't mind going to Tujunga there's a fun mexican place but it gets a little crowded.. http://www.yelp.com/biz/mi-casita-sunland

I haven't been but was told it's pretty good.. http://www.lostreshermanos.com/
Well, compared to Rick Bayless, not quite as good as that, but I do like the mole at Don Cuco's in Newhall. That and a margarita is what I usually get when I go there.
Matt D. replied:
Well, my two favorites of all time aren't in SCV; if you're in Northridge, try Dos Arbolitos; my other go to is http://thegardensoftaxco.com/ but that's rather a slog and haven't been there in a few years. Thanks for bringing it up though, now I will have to go again. I don't know what you mean by Margarita's making a lake of it on the enchiladas poblano perhaps you should try just ordering the chicken ;)
Steve G. replied:
Casa Lupita is the only place I go for mole up here. Delicious.
If you're looking for a catering company for an event, may I suggest our catering and event planning company? Www.silverserviceevents.com let me know if we can help you. We do all types of food, rentals, etc.
Has anyone tried a boxed meal subscription service like Blue Apron, HelloFresh, Plated? Worth it?
Robin A. replied:
I love love love Hello Fresh! I've been getting the boxes for about 6 weeks now and it's been great! Love that I don't have to Go to the grocery store much ( working a lot of hours this is a plus for me!), everything is pre portioned and clean and fresh, and I get to try new recipes I'd otherwise never try as you get all the different spices and fresh herbs and all ingredients sent to you in one recipe for two (3-5 meals for two per week, or you can order for 4 people as well - you pick a choose!) You can skip a week, or 2 or 3 or 4, and you choose which recipes you want to receive wach week. Chef Jamie Oliver is on board now and he has one recipe per week you can get if you so desire! A big bonus is that my husband, who is a super picky eater, and usually hates new recipes, has devoured every one so far and is loving it!
Jennifer A. replied:
We've been using Blue Apron for a year and enjoy it. It's a good way to try a variety of unique ingredients with low risk. The food is relatively tasty and recipes easy to prepare.
