I highly recommend Bahman at Butterfly Esthetics on Water Street. He's a little spendy but specializes in curly hair. He knows what he's doing. I'm a curly girl too. He's amazing.
Nicole M. replied:
I have really thick, THICK curly hair. I go to Alli Wilkinson at Azhar Hair Design in Santa Cruz. She is amazing and just a great person. Good Luck, totally understand about going to a new hairstylist with our type of hair.

I work the front desk The Loft Salon and Spa, one of our hairstylists specializes in fun colors and would definitely be willing discuss options to fit your budget! A consultation would be free so if you're interested please give us a call at (831) 420-1000

Joey at Studio Bloom in Soquel! He's the best and we've done lots of fun colors and cuts together. He's very talented and fun to be around.:)

I go to Alli at Ahzar HAir Design downtown http://www.azharhairdesign.com/ You would need to call to get a price range, but they do AMAZING work, I've never left there less than 100% happy with my color and cut. For reference, I have gone bright electric blue, a deep royal purple, and right now I have whiteblond with pastel pink highlights.

My stylist is Chase Currier and he does great work. He's moving to Ulta in the mall soon but I believe he's still working out of a salon on Brommer at the moment. Give him a call and see how much he would charge. He's always been very reasonably priced for me. http://stylesbychase.com His number is on the site. You can also try Vice Salon in Capitola Village. I know the owners personally and they're good people. Might be a bit pricier but I'm not sure how much exactly. Worth checking.
Where do you guys get your haircuts? Can anyone recommend a good place to get a haircut around Santa Cruz? It doesn't matter what the price is, just as long as the...
The_PerfectGentleman replied:
this is UCSC. people dont get haircuts. edit: also Supercuts by Safeway on mission gives decent haircuts, and they give a student discount as well.

There's a place called (johnny's ?) right next to McDonald's/taco bell/falafel place on mission. It's like an old school "barber shop" and the dudes working there are really cool. They gave me a beer to drink when I was getting my haircut. It's a few more bucks than a "great clips/supercuts" type of place@22$ but worth it IMO... They took their time to cut my hair instead of rushing through to get to the next person waiting. They take reservations BTW.
KID25223 replied:
if this is of any help, i can give you a buzz cut or something simple using my clippers, I cant trim though. Let me know if your interested.
inkoso replied:
I've heard Montegomery's is good. I've never been to them but from what i've heard its spot on. I used to go to Cali's on Mission, but now i don't live in SC. Cali's gave me good haircuts and great treatment (straight razor and shaved) for 18 bucks.
theineffablebob replied:
I posted this a couple weeks ago and got some good answers :) http://www.reddit.com/r/UCSC/comments/zp48 f/best_place_to_get_a_haircut_in_santa_cruz/ I went to Rick's (because Montgomery's was closed when I went -- that was my 1 st choice) but I got a good haircut there. More expensive than what I'm used to -- $21 -- but the haircut was good.
