We have been so looking forward to Cycle Oregon this year, but with all the fires in the area, it has been cancelled. But with the low air fares to Europe on WOW...

Look at hybrid mattresses. Local to the bay might be hard but Mancini sleep source is local.

[McRoskey](https://www.mcroskeysf.com/) were made in SF until a couple years ago when they were bought by a Fresno company called Pleasant Mattress.
They do two-sided mattresses, most with connected coils, real box springs, and air vents. Prices are pretty high though, it's more of an all-out luxury product than just high end.
But you could check out their [showroom](https://www.mcroskeysf.com/) in SF, which is right across the street from [Bedroom & More](https://www.bedroomandmore.com/) where you can compare to Vispring (UK), Aireloom (California), and Ivy Organics (LA area). There's also a [Nest Bedding showroom](https://www.nestbedding.com/pages/san-francisco-showroom-finder) right around the corner.
> Extra question: I’ve always hated how at hotels sometimes the top layer would slide laterally on the mattress and it feels like it’s slipping off below the sheets. How do people avoid that?
I haven't experienced this at a hotel but that sounds like a topper moving around under the sheet. You could either not use a topper or find one with straps to hold it in place.

A current member of The Mattress Underground is [Bay Bed & Mattress](https://www.baybed.com/) in Santa Cruz. Looks like they offer a 30 day comfort guarantee where they'll make adjustments to meet your desired comfort and firmness, but no money back returns.

Do a Google search for "mattress manufacturers San Francisco". You might have to expand up to Sacramento. I know Sac has a couple, because I looked early this year, but never followed up.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in Santa Cruz?

The place Charlet Archuleta stayed at was the same place we stayed and recommended its actually about 10 mins up the road from The Boardwalk in Scott's Valley - the Hilton. . Its a very nice place to stay and has a pool and spa for the family to enjoy as well

You'll see a list of rates, I just went to website and got rates for tomorrow night as an example: AAA rate $179 State Government rate $90 US Government rate $131 The State rate is usually the lowest, most of the time hotels never ask for any ID, but if they do you can just show them your work ID (since you work for government). We stayed at Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort in a nice suite for $132 a night, which includes a cook to order breakfast for the entire family and managers reception (happy hour from 5 pm-7 pm) with free drinks and appetizers (nachos, veggie bar, etc) all included in the price every night. It's like staying for free. My family costs at least $60 for breakfast, and with happy hour I think the hotel is in the red with our family. LOL
Hey Judy Womack! Any suggestions on hotels or any group rate going? We are having a hard time finding anything under $200/night and nowhere near the boardwalk, all at...
