Hi! I'm a realtor and know a lot about the rental market here. I also have AAA and have an excellent agent there. I would love to help your dad. Have him call me, if he wants to 707-331-3069. Most 4 bedroom homes are going to go for at least $3500 or more a month and my AAA agent is well aware of that. The landlords can not raise their rents due to this disaster, but rents were already very high here.

Rob G. replied:
Whoa Ashley. You are being given the wrong information. First off - did your dad own the home? If he did then does he have homeowner's insurance? If he does then he is covered for a rental not based on what his house would rent for but other for a home of comparable size and quality - for whatever it costs. Additionally, your dad's policy would have ALE coverage. You need to find out how much coverage he has. It should be enough to cover a rental for the time needed to rebuild. However long it takes to rebuild. Let me know if you need more info. First and foremost get a copy of the policy if your dad doesn't have a copy. Then, with your dad, look it over to see what coverage you have.

I am a local Realtor, who also happens to live in Larkfield. I am so sorry for your family's loss. The rental rate they quoted you is about right. We don't really list rentals in our MLS system so your best sources are some of our local leasing agencies. Alliance Property Management, Dede's Rentals and Craig's List are all great sources. Please let me know if I can help further. Again, I am so very sorry.

Most of the time if you have a company contracted they will give you some wiggle room. I've talked with lots of folks getting pressured by insurance companies for building clearance, but they want to write the policy.

Hi Vanessa. The health system here in Australia works very differently to over in the US. IVIG would be a standard treatment here that as far as I know has always been approved for use if you get a diagnosis of NMDA. I'm trying to remember your first post here.. Did you say that you didn't have NMDA but another type of Auto Immune Illness? The main support group on FB will probably be your best place for advice. All the best.:)

Stan M. replied:
I lost my house in the Valley Fire in Hidden Valley, and I am having to walk away from it because I was grossly underinsured. And I only had the house less that a year when it burned. The insurance agent wrote the policy based on what I paid for the house, not the rebuild cost. Two things wrong with this. No-one from the insurance company ever looked at my property to see what it was worth, and I paid way under market value for it. Knowing then what I know now, I would have gladly paid a little more per month for insurance that would have allowed me to rebuild. I can't comment on the price to rebuild on this side of the mountain, but talking to a contractor would give you some background info. And I'm sure there are plenty who would do it with a simple phone call. Ordinance and law (code upgrades) is an incurred expense. They only pay for what is spent. Again a contractor can advise on what new building codes are in place now that didn't exist when your house was built. You don't want to have to use rebuild money for code upgrades. Hope this helps. Good luck.

David P. replied:
Coverage A at $350 per square foot seems a bit high to me. If you have a VERY high end house (crown molding, super over-the-top appliances, maybe some gold flake paint, or some other extravagant construction), maybe; but it is doubtful. Coverage A should be the reasonable replacement cost, with a replacement cost guarantee rider & code upgrade riders to be sure there is enough to rebuild in the event of something like the firestorm. If you want to make sure you have the right mount of insurance, go to a good agent (not some clown who neglected your policy for the last 10 years). I suggest checking Barber Insurance in Santa Rosa.
