Mass air flow sensors are very easy to replace on most any car. Often you can just clean them with Mass Air Flow Spray Cleaner and fix the problem. If not, you can buy the part at the part store and then you remove the air filter, take out one or two screws, remove a small vacuum hose and or an electric plug. You can find videos on how to do it on Youtube. Toyotas of that time are notorious for having such problems. If that doesn't fix it you might need the entire air intake system cleaned. They take it apart and wipe all the parts down.
