Hi Group,
I am trying to build a contact list of accoustic instrument builders from Saskatchewan. In particular, I would like to find people that build stringed...
Darcy W. replied:
Mike, Jamie MIGHT be if you were able to set him up as an onsite luthier, who could also set up instruments. But yeah, likely not.
Greg Y. replied:
Darcy... Jason Romero. To my most recent knowledge Julian Tubb is no longer building (too bad). Both Mark Thibeault (& partner Jenny Lester) & Pharis & Jason Romero would be great additions to any festival. According to his website Jason has no build spots left for 2015.
Byron O. replied:
I'd like to suggest that a list of luthiers and their contact info be printed and made available on site. Acoustic builder Simon Budd from Northern Alberta would be a good addition as well as Saskatoon electric guitar manufacturers Fury and Dingwall.
Mike B. replied:
Mike Klein asks why this would be a small market, 900-1000 people is why. Edmonton is about a million people and I'm not sure if any of the half dozen luthiers sell enough to make a living.
Mike B. replied:
I think it wold be cool to get Peter Sawchyn or maybe David Freeman to set up shop for a few days and do some repairs and maybe have a stage for them to give some instructional talks.
Byron O. replied:
I have an album called "guitars" on my facebook page. Please feel free to have a look. Some of the photos are of work I've done and lots are of the many cool guitars, instruments that have come through the shop for repairs. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=592170344224508&l=36936 b264 e
