Who do I talk to about volunteering as a Registered Dental Hygienist to clean teeth?
Seattle's M. replied:
Thanks for asking! We'd love to have you volunteer with our Dental Clinic in downtown Seattle. Please get in touch with our Volunteer Department at 206.723.0767 or volunteer@ugm.org. And let us know if you have any problems!
A bit of sticker shock from taking one of my mom's cats to the vet. Is it normal for a vet to charge an office visit fee on top of the vaccination charge (after the full...
Ericka K. replied:
Elliott Bay Animal Hospital is fantastic. I don't know how their rates compare, but they are really wonderful. Banfield scares me.
Susana C. replied:
A neighbor told me that he takes his dogs to Value Vet in Tacoma. He said it was very reasonable.
Ema C. replied:
That seems a little high. We paid less than that, but a little close to $400 for a mobile vet that came to our home for an extensive work up. You might be able to call ahead to various vets to see if they can give you an estimate. We used At Home Vet for my cat for many years because he couldn’t handle car rides, and he had a lot of health issues, which was why our bill was higher than the norm.
Bill B. replied:
Not a Banfield fan. HIghly recommend https://www.facebook.com/100442336667058Atlantic Veterinary Hospital.
Carrie T. replied:
I have been very happy with Companion Animal Clinic in U district. Only a $29 office visit charge and that is ONLY if the vet is needed. Vaccine update charges did not need a vet so, no office vidit. They will tell you charges upfront if you ask.
Siri G. replied:
We had a very good experience with Greenwood Animal Hospital. We got our old FIV cat a big dental with a bunch do extractions and they quoted us half of what another vet quoted! Call them up and see what they can do for you:)
Carrie R. replied:
Mission Vet, in Kent, provides low cost services that aren’t income based. Exams are $20, plus the cost of vaccinations. Dental cleanings are $125, plus $25 per extraction. It’s a no-frills clinic. Quality vet care is expensive, but necessary to keep our loved ones healthy.
Jenn K. replied:
I take my cat to Brad Evergreen of Evergreen Holistic Veterinary Care in Monroe, and I can't say enough good things. Reasonably priced, but moreover a fantastic vet, and vegan. It's worth the drive out there to know that your vet is super ethical and doesn't do declaws or debarks or convenience euthanasia.
Philip C. replied:
You could try Cat Clinic of Seattle at 39 th and Stone Way, I take my three (yes, I’m the crazy cat man !) boys there and I’ve been happy with them. Also cats only so no stress from sitting in the waiting room with barking dogs.
Can anyone recommend a vet clinic? Our cat needs a dental cleaning and sebaceous cyst removed, and I just found out the vet we'd taken him to previously has had an...

Anyone have a dentist in the area they like? I think this has been asked before, but I can't find the post. I want someone who doesn't try to sell services, and has a...
Beth D. replied:
Dr. Crawford at Columbia City Dental. Her hygienists are great, too. If it matters, my teeth are pretty crooked and not super white, and they've never even asked about braces or whitening services.
Kendra W. replied:
Columbia City Dental is the best place. The entire staff is amazing, and Dr. Crawford is very personable
Christina S. replied:
Another vote for Dr. Crawford! I have pretty intense anxiety about going to the dentist and she has been wonderful about helping me reconnect with care. Love her!

G.O. Dental on Beacon Hill (across from MacPhersons Produce). All hyienists are very personable. Taking new patients and open Saturdays. Been going to them for years. 206-762-1551
Do any of you wonderful fur parents have any recommendations for canine dental cleaning? I was quoted $600 by a vet on Capitol hill, I'm hoping that's not the case here...
Carrie S. replied:
They do it for about $250 (under if I remember correctly) at Rainier Beach Veterinary Hospital, it depends on the size of your dog. You should look into them as your primary vet. None of the fanciness like a photo booth that Urban Animal has, but much better care for a fraction of the cost. They literally saved our dog life after being hit by a car last year on a Saturday afternoon. She had to live there for 3 weeks, so we were worried about paying for multiple surgeries and 3 weeks of care. The price was shockingly affordable but more importantly, they loved her to pieces.
Jennifer R. replied:
Rainier Beach Vet is super. Great people, great care.
