Tony the tailor. More expensive, but just off huaihai lu. Can get your stuff within a week. English no worries, and you arent rolling the dice on the quality/fit so much. Look him up on smartshanghai.com its the best way to find things in the ciry, has taxi displays for your phone and all that.

Jennifer at stall 237 in the South Bund market is also good. Great English - they make for all the staff at a couple of Consulates so they get the idea of happy repeat customers.

south bund soft spinning market shanghai, bought a real nice, tailored fitted suit there. Found a real good english speaking tailor there (i think stall number #01, not sure though, dont quote me on that), payed in total about 800 yuan (~100€, maybe it was 1000 yuan but not more than that, has been a while since i bought it) and had it made in les than 5 hours cause i had to catch a flight the same day. Therefore, if you have more than 5 hours time it will probably be even more cheaper.

I've kept returning to stall #147 at the fabric market at the Nanpu bridge metro stop. Jane works there and speaks English well enough to get your fabrics, measurements, and style right. They can do express but usually takes at least 3 or 4 days. She starts on the higher side of price but can be talked down to around 600 for suit jacket, pants, shirt, and tie.
Hello. I am looking for recommendations for a good tailor at the South Bund Fabric market to make a couple of suits, shirts and dresses. Fell free to Message me. Thanks.
Can someone recommend a good tailor for suits? Sorry for reposting as this was asked before, but the most recent thread I could find was over a year ago...

I'm surprised at some of the comments made here. Obviously going to the bund area you will pay more for things. If you travel to other markets outside of the city center, or talk to some Chinese friends, you will find much better pricing. I paid 600 rmb for a tailored suit that was in my opinion, very good. I wore it for several weddings and functions without a single problem. I'm sorry I can't be more help with exact locations. I spent the last year that I was in china in Nanjing. I do have a great tailor there, but it's a bit of a pain to get there.

Good English costs money. For your budget, you'd better bring along a Chinese friend.

SuitSupply is a great place to check out, you can just google them. They have stores around the world including Shanghai. Fluent in English, amazing fabrics and can do anything from making a suit from scratch, to tailoring something off the rack. I do NOT recommend ANY tailors in this country, all are a joke. SuitSupply prices range from 4000-15000. If you want something for 1500 you should just buy something in Zara and get it tailored cheap somewhere.

I've been going to a tailor on the 3 rd floor the fabric market on Dongmen lu/ Renmin lu for the past year or so now. She makes pretty much anything, but they really do a good suit. A friend of mine got 2 jackets and 2 full suits for just over 2 k without bargaining. I can pm you her info if you're interested. She also speaks English quite well and she has a large foreign clientele.
Who can recommend a good tailor for Vests (tweet & black), man's shirt (with cufflinks) and classic suits. Good value, not looking for luxury staff.
