I went through a program at Grey Nuns outpatient therapy. It's called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. There's one for depression and one for anxiety. It's group therapy and was very helpful in my experience. They gice you homework assignments in the form of journal keeping and mood tracking. The therapy sesssions are free and run for 8 weeks. Alternatively, Catholic Social Services offers one on one therapy and offers per-visit charges based on your income. You don't need to be Catholic or religious to use their services. Your brother will need a referral from his GP for the Grey Nuns program. Catholic Social Services is an at-will program. Catholic Social Services: (780) 420-1970. They will take some info from you and a therapist will call back. Mental health is often undervalued or ignored. I do hope your brother can find the help he needs. I know what it's like to feel trapped inside your own head.

Psychologists can't prescribe medication. He needs a psychiatrist. You get a referral from your Dr. and it's free.

Hey I don't have any references for you, but I just wanted to say that you're a good sibling for helping out your brother. I know that it's hard to be strong for a sibling who's going through a rough patch.

You may wish to look into the [Edmonton Community Mental Health Clinic](http://www.albertahealthservices.ca/services.asp?pid=service&rid=1001410). You likely won't be able to get access to a psychologist there, BUT, I have been able to see a therapist without issue or charge, and through them, I have been able to access one of their psychiatrists to work out which medications I need, as well as get prescriptions for them.

The best place to find a psychologist, is through the referral service on the Psychologist Association of Alberta website. This is the link: http://www.psychologistsassociation.ab.ca/site/doctor_search_form It allows you to select the city/area preferred and what the problems are, which helps narrow down a psychologist based on their areas of expertise. It's easy to use and I'd definitely recommend it. Finding a psychologist that is the right fit can be a challenge, but this helps narrow it down a bit.

Insight has an office on the south side and north side, and they charge on a sliding scale. For meds, you may have to see an MD.
