Kermit Poling if you like Thai and Pho you gotta go to Danh's Deli Express. I'm definitely going to have to try Sabores next time. That sounds awesome!!
What are some of y'all's favorite restaurants in Shreveport/Bossier? I am always looking for new great places.

* Best shrimp poboy, Logan's Farms on Line Ave. * Best Burger, Ferrier's Rollin' in the Dough (Twisted Root was a nice surprise, but still hasn't overtaken RITD for me). * Best taco, Taqueria Michoacana. * Best Chinese, Lucky Palace in Bossier. * Best Buffet, Sam's Town's International Buffet. Just personal preferences here. There are always smaller restaurants that surprise me, though, like Sabores Dominican Restaurant in Bossier.

61 comments and no one mentioned Noble Savage? Common /r/shreveport. Unfortunately there really isn't a substantial enough ethnic population in Shreveport to justify restaurants serving authentic food. The best places to eat are the ones that serve their own community, which you just won't find in Shreveport (but if you do, I will love you). Taqueria Michoacana is pretty darn good IMO (not Hispanic) and there was a place in Bossier that did Chinese Hot Pot but word of mouth is that they stopped doing it last month.

Best Mexican food hands down is from Tacomania. Best oysters are from Oyster Bar.

Julie Anne’s on Kings and Line. I can't think of anywhere else in the area to get nutella crepes and cevapcici.

Fairfield grocery and market. It's on youree where that little expensive plaza is. Sorry I can't remember the names of anything right now. I love it for a nice brunch when I have a pal to talk to. Btw their burgers are only on Friday and Saturday I believe. On mobile can't really check. I'm sure someone has more information if needed OP
L'italiano and lemongrass for me. Twisted root isn't bad either. Franks pizza is pricey but killer.

Our favorite dining experiences in Shreveport are from the Mabry House. ...for a quick healthy lunch, we generally prefer to eat at Sunshine Health Foods Cafe on Youree. Our diner of choice is Southfields Grill on Southfield. I've never left without leaving a five dollar tip or better. Pierremont Cafe' has had fabulous food nearly every time. It's been awhile since we've been there though...

There's a place way out on the middle of nowhere towards elm grove called Wilson's. It's been a few years since I've been but I know it's still open. Place is delicious.

If you're looking for good Chinese food, Imperial Cathay is where you should go!!! The best Chinese food I have ever had, and the service there is always great. Another great restaurant is Herby K's..... Shrimp buster and crab claws... So yummy.

Newks express cafe has become one of my favorite restaurants in the last few weeks. Their sandwiches and iced tea are top notch. And they give you a big ass plastic cup you can take home. Oyster Bar is good eats. Usually get the Carne Asada for lunch. Their oysters are just great. Firehouse Subs is usually once a week lunch. Captain Sorensons hot sauce is like explosions of happiness in your mouth.

Some of my favorites: Tacomania, L'Italiano, Good Eats, Rollin' in the Dough, Sushiko, and some of the chains like Panera and Smashburger. For breakfast, Another Broken Egg. From GoWaiter: The Blind Tiger, Shane's, McAllister's.

My current favorite is Frank's Pizza. Warning - if you don't like "gourmet-style" Neapolitan pizza, this is not the place for you. Personally, I could eat Frank's daily (and their Nutella/Banana "pizza" for Breakfast and Dessert!), but my boyfriend, who's more of an American-style pizza fan, doesn't like Frank's at all. Sake Sushi has one of my favorite sushi rolls ever - the Spicy Girl Roll; I miss them being on GoWaiter because I prefer to gorge myself on Sushi in pajamas, on my couch. However, I've become obsessed with going to Hana for sushi - I love the multiple varieties of rolls, and everything I've had there is delicious. Plus, I personally think the space is beautifully decorated. For Tex-Mex, I prefer El Compadre over any of the other so-called "Mexican" restaurants in the area, especially over Superior Bar and Grill. I don't know understand how 90% of Shreveport thinks that place is good. It's overpriced, mediocre at best, and always insanely noisy and crowded. I suspect most of its patrons are so drunk on margaritas, they think the subpar swill they're being served is like, DUUUUUDE, THE BEST THING EVER. Oyster Bar is quite good, but again, IMHO, their oysters are a tad overpriced. And also, Oyster Bar, are you an oyster house, or a tex-mex restaurant? Your tex-mex is decent, but for what's supposed to be an oyster place, there seems to be a bit of an identity crisis going on here. For Chinese - Lucky Palace is just ridiculously good. Don't be put-off by its unassuming location to dine in. If you love wine, you won't find a better list in Shreveport. For takeout, I love China Dragon on Youree. It helps that they're literally two houses away from mine, but the food is tasty, always comes out perfect, and the people there are super-friendly and extra generous with portions. They know I love water chestnuts and snow peas, and now throw in extras in all my orders without even having to ask or charging me extra.

Bistro Byronz on Line Ave has a great burger and so does Rollin in the dough. However, the secret burger place for me is Biscotti's on Youree. It's a fru-fru old lady's joint, but OMFG their burgers and fries are fucking ridiculous!

Marilynn's Place on Fern is a great, new-ish place for NOLA-style seafood, Po-boys etc. The Real Pickle at the corner of Line and Pierremont has been a staple for me (love their beer fries and fried pickles.) Also there are 2 pizza places that are pretty new to Shreveport that are right around the corner from each other: Rotolo's - family-friendly pizzeria with other italian food and craft beer choices. Frank's Gourmet Pizzaria - different style of pizza. Neat atmosphere (think "colorado mountain lodge" decor). Not really a kid's place (as far the the food goes anyway) but fun for date nights and grown-up get-togethers.
Native Texan here - yet I was surprised at the sheer volume of this list. I really had no idea that we had this many good Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants in the DFW...

Would somebody please help me with a memory....we used to go to the Ancient Mariner restaurant on Shelter Island for high school dates. Was it at the current location...
Kitty M. replied:
Thank you, Randy! Here is another question...The current location of Miguel's (old Brig) was once a home. The Sousa family lived there in the early 1900 s. Was the Ancient Mariner (current location of the Brig) also a home in the early 1900 s? Seems like it could have been since you walk up a staircase when you enter.
Harold C. replied:
No, not at first. Celeste Brothers merged with Dale Shoupe's Quality Automotive, behind the Sports Arena. Later Dad went his separate way to occupy Jack Brandt's garage next to the Chevron at Nimitz and Rosecrans, now named "Celeste Garage". None of the former structures or businesses exist today.
Harold C. replied:
The "Shoup & Celeste Quality Automotive" on Kurtz St. Era was about 1969 through 1974, before my Dad split from some of the Dale Shoupe shenanigans he couldn't stomach. Uncle George Celeste stayed on with Dale a few more years before bailing out, too. That's the best we can remember, Patti Rank!
