Yes go to shively animal clinic. They dont take appointments its first come first served but you can check in and leave and they will call you back. Just watch the area around it. Not the best, but its always been fine when I go and I grew up in the area around there. I have been taking pets there my whole life.

Dr. Oliver at Lyndon Animal Hospital is the man. Dr. Sheldon in Fern Creek is good too.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Mitchell at Westport road animal hospital. They’re reasonably priced, almost always can get us in the same day, and he came to our home to euthanize our last dog, after hours and at no additional charge. Hope your pup is ok!

I’ve only ever needed to go to the Cat Clinic on Bardstown Road, but everyone boasts about the clinic in Shively. So... yeah. Go there? ::edit:: Is the Cat Clinic still open? She’s been super healthy for, like, 5 years, but I feel like a check-up is due.

We take our pup to Companion Animal Hospital in Middletown. Dr. Lazas is really down to earth and really cares about animals.

Shively animal clinic has great vets! You can tell they actually care about the animals there. My family has had 4 dogs and they all went to shively. I definitely recommend them if you have a happy social animal. However, if your pet is shy, like mine, It can be a HUGE hassle to go there. My dog is painfully shy and will not go back to see the doctor by himself. I have to be there with him and because I have to go back with him I usually end up waiting 4 to 5 hours.. Even if I get there and am one of the first people in line. So if you have a normal happy pet, go to Shively animal clinic and choose the walk in option. They'll take good care of your pet.
I love St. Matthews animal clinic. I also use Shively, I had my dog hospitalized there and get her heart worm medication there but her regular checkups are done at St. Matthews and I love it. I love Dr. Shoemaker and the rest of the staff so much they are great. I always get appointments quickly and they work with my really well for payment plans and other money issues.

I like Chenoweth Animal Hospital on Frankfort Ave. It is not walk-in but they are good about getting appts. either same-day or in the next few days.

I love Dr. John. He has pet clinics at Feeder's Supplies, but you'd probably want to go to his actual office. St. Matthew's Animal Clinic has great vets and people, but I find they are pretty pricey (and charge a $50 "new patient exam" for your first visit). Dr. John's has more fair prices and the same level of quality IMO

A little late, but I won't go anywhere but Middletown Animal Clinic. It's out of the way from where I live now, but I don't trust anyone else (tried, never again!) Family owned. Dr. (Steve) Koehler diagnosed an issue with my dog that no other vet in town could pin-point. Been going there for more than 20 years.

I recently moved out of Louisville, but I took my dog to Fairleigh on Bardstown Road for 8 or so years. They were always very nice, informative, and made me feel comfortable leaving her there for the day. She also got groomed there. I do think they might be on the more expensive side (I got quoted ~700 for a dental cleaning, but it also included bloodwork...yikes!) but I feel like they were worth it. They are also owned by VCA now, which means they are a bit more sales oriented. Good luck!
