The people at First National Bank's wealth department are all fiduciaries (from what I have been told anyway). Not all financial advisors need to be fiduciaries to be reputable, and I suppose it follows that not all fiduciaries are reputable, but in my opinion it's a good start

Go for fee only. Don't pay for assets under management. If you do pay assets under management then don't allow it to be above 1%. Most people will be fine with a robo adviser like betterment. Charles Schwab also has a a great online service launching that has a new structure for financial advising that I have yet to become and SME on.
