Lori, we got MD Plumbing and Sewer from Angie's List originally. They have saved us both time and money every time we use them. They are honest, clean polite and do good work. All the things one would want in a plumber. M D Plumbing & Sewer8050 Lawndale Ave Skokie, IL 60076(847) 679-3234...See More

If jiggling solves the problem, why don't you consider replacing the apparatus on the inside that attaches at one side to the thing handle or button you flush with and on the other side to the bulb that opens to let water in and out of the tank. You can buy that set-up at Home Depot and elsewhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6CQCeK1Br0

Welter Plumbing on Lehigh in Morton Grove (across from the Metra Station). They are fantastic, and have installed a new toilet at our house, among other jobs for us.

American Vintage Home in Evanston. Top notch fair and honest.
Edie L. replied:
We've used AA Anthony and done pretty well. We've used Cahill but they can be pretty pricy.
Anybody have a recommendation for a local plumber?

Melina K. replied:
Edgar Sewall has done two major jobs for us. His pricing and professionalism was so much better than the others the other bidders. Also, he steered me away from two costly projects when he felt I would be dissatisfied with the ROI.
Andy R. replied:
Mark Duval plumbing, he is my friend. Mention my name.
In case you want another estimate, we used R & D plumbing in the past. I like that they charge per job as opposed to hourly. (847) 966-8729. Seem pretty fair. Have not had good luck with Cahill.
Any of my plumber friends out there that can help me ASAP?!?!
Paul M. replied:
Plumbers use augers save your money and go to home depot and buy a snake auger. When your done you can take it back or you can pay a plumber $100+ to do it for you. http://www.homedepot.com/.../RIDGID-1-4-in-x.../203468227... -- I had a stopped toilet any my friend that own's a plumbing company told me to get an auger and do it myself. I cleared my toilet in 10 minutes.
Jeff M. replied:
Go to Home Depot, get a plastic snake drain cleaning tool for about $4, and a bottle of Instant Power Hair & Grease Drain Opener for about $8. Use the snake first then finish it off with the Instant Power. Follow the directions and you'll be good.
