The Solana Hotel at Melleiah is lovely and not too pricey. On the main bus route. Has it's own restaurant and others close by. Has a small rooftop pool and an indoor one too. Not too huge. Very friendly staff and nice communial bar area that serves teas and coffees too.

Can I recommend Calypso Hotel in Marsalforn, on Gozo - my mother was a solo traveller in her first year as a widow at the age of 77, but an experienced traveller and was extremely well looked after - perfectly located by the sea, inside and roof top restaurants and restaurants all long the bay within a short walking distance from the hotel. It's the most touristy part of Gozo in my view - but it is perfect for solo travellers. We booked for her through Mercury. We love Gozo and have been visiting for years and indeed linked up with my Mum the second week of her holiday.
