Nuffield at Five Ways is the best gym most locally. It's at the bottom of Hagley Rd. It has steam, sauna, pool and classes. It's ~£40 a month.

I <3 Smethwick Swimming Centre / Thimblemill Pool and agree staff are fab x As I was saying just today they got my eldest off armbands in four weeks when Harborne Pool hadn't managed it in two years so I rate their lessons for kids much more highly.

Access to the pool is one of the things that appeals to me (I'm not a great swimmer but when I'm in the mood I like a swim when there are lanes). We did look at Pure Gym at Cape Hill but I wasn't convinced, although it is a very good price. I didn't like how open plan it all is.
